I am 41 now, and I was a serious seeker in my 20s. With time, experience comes, and though this is close to the list I read at that time, I'd recommend others.
First: the Hichhiker's Guide from Douglas Adams, because that IS the greatest book on philosophy, civilization, psychology, etc. - you only have to learn to translate the concepts.
Read Asimov Foundation stories, because that is about his very sophisticated view on long term, civilizational movements, and there are very bright conversations between wise people.
As a geek, watch the Last Lecture and Time Management from Randy Pausch.
To get a feeling about what you will face in the future, check Fairewinds.org ... (sorry for that)
I would also be interested in your opinion about my stuff, starting with this lecture: Taste of Luck.
Then, you might continue with DustShort about the role of IT in solving the current situation.
For hard code readers, the complete analysis of our problem is here: Mondo Aurora (sorry for the translation, my English is not that good).
The end of this list is definitely NOT for "every 20-something", as it gets harder and more personal as you go. Not on Coelho-level.
